My name is Sushma Maddison Tweed, I am a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with over 30 years experience of working in mental health in both the NHS and my private practice. I have been specialising in CBT practice since 2006 and obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in CBT. I have completed training in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) which is used specifically for multiple/single traumas as well as being a qualified EMDR practitioner (EMDR) which is found to be most effective for treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and a large range of mental health conditions including phobias, different anxiety disorders, grief, low self-esteem, complex trauma, chronic pain.
I originally qualified as a registered nurse (Registered Mental health Nurse-RMN). Since qualifying as an RMN I have completed my BSc (Hons) degree in Health Studies, a diploma in Drug & Alcohol studies, a Kings Fund Managers programme (which was very useful when I managed various mental health services), Supervision course and Solution Focussed Therapy course (University of Hertfordshire).
Since 1993 I have worked in the community in a variety of clinical settings such as community mental health teams, assertive outreach services, forensic services, specialist services such as drug and alcohol services and as a Nurse Consultant in a community eating disorder service. I currently work for the Bedfordshire NHS Wellbeing Service (IAPT) and in my private practice.
